September 2009

Kudos to the Climate and Energy Action Plan Project Thank you Rebecca for the Climate and Energy Action Plan project you organized with the City of Eugene and our students.

From Rebecca Huot, teacher: A HUGE shout-out to ALL of those who made the City of Eugene Climate & Energy Kickoff Event a success this Saturday at NEHS. Special thanks to: Custodian staff, Kay, Dennis, Ingrid, Irene, Laurie, Aaron Thomas and his journalism crew whose interviews and coverage will be posted on the City’s website and the Caledonian’s website, Steve Frankel, and our student volunteers who balanced managing and participating (Crystal Morris, Mandy Desjadon, Dylan Crowley, Adam Cameron, Jessica Coles, Kaleb Jordan, Stephanie Russell, Wes Stark, Ray Ray Apodaca), and Derek Smith for video/audio/digital support. The most exciting thing was to see our community members valuing the input our students had to share.

From Kay Graham, principal: A big "shout out" to the excellent effort put forth by staff members Rebecca Huot, Steve Frankel, Aaron Thomas, and Curt Jones who each gave up a chunk of their Saturday (In Rebecca's case the whole morning and afternoon) to help with the City of Eugene's Climate and Energy Action Plan Kickoff. Our afternoon custodians helped out on Friday too, so thanks for that! Our students looked good because of our staff. We had kids helping with the prep work, participating in the discussions, and filming. It was a pretty cool event. I was very impressed. North looked great! Thanks for your efforts.
