Our NIHS Small School Preview Night for incoming freshmen was a great success. Staff and students did a magnificent job sharing about our school mission and vision. Miho’s Culinary Class made some yummy international treats to share with prospective students and parents.

The first round OSAT (Oregon State Assessment Test) testing for our 10th grade students in math, reading and writing has been completed. The science tests will be given soon. Kudos to Brandy Wormdahl, an NIHS math teacher for organizing the state testing.

Our students have very busy with school activities. NIHS freshmen participated in the Pan African conference with other EHIS students at the Wheeler Pavilion. Our sophomores will participate in the Eurasion Conference later this spring.

In athletics, NEHS boys and girls swim team won district and did a wonderful job at the state meet. The girls and boys basketball teams qualified for the playoffs. The North Archers just competed in their first tournament in Grants Pass.

Martin Ball took the Debate Club to the U of O to compete with other regional teams and several NIHS students have parts in the upcoming play, “A Mid Summer Night’s Dream”.

We continue to have concerns about the use of MP3 players and cell phones at school. It is important that students are ready for instruction during class time and that cell phones and players are off. Also, thefts of electronic devices have increased and students need to make sure those items are secure at all times.

Please check out the parent website for up to date NIHS information.
