English Language Learners
Our English Language Learner (ELL) program serves NEHS students for whom
their primary language is not English and score below certain benchmarks
on assessment tests. This program provides specialized curriculum designed
to teach ELL students English language skills. These skills include listening,
speaking, writing, study skills, content vocabulary and cultural orientation.
Most instruction is in English with limited use of native languages. Our
goal is English language proficiency as measured by passage of the Oregon
State Assessment benchmarks.
