Computer Labs and Networks

North Eugene High School has 7 computer labs, 19 mobile computer carts, and approximately 900 computers. 50% of them are PC’s running Windows XP. The rest are Macs running OSX. Although many of the computers are "hard-wired" into the network, there are currently also 28 wireless access points throughout the school.

No matter where students are in the building and no matter which computer they are using, students are able to access their work. North students who are using computers are given usernames and passwords so they may save their work on 4J’s network of secure servers. NEHS staff also have access to student passwords so they can help students with their work.

If students want to work from home, we recommend purchasing a USB flash drive (sometimes called USB thumb drive or pen drive). This device will work on any newer Macintosh or PC. They are sold at NEHS finance office or any computer or office supply store.

North Eugene Technicians (NETs)

Want to feel more comfortable using your computer? Become part of the NETS Team.

North Eugene students work to support all of our school’s technology resources, including labs, teacher work stations, and servers. Students receive training in hardware and software support for Macintosh, Windows, and Linux as well as local and wide area computer networking. In addition, students learn how best to communicate with and support computer users, prioritize work requests, and work as a team.

Getting at the guts of the machineThe NETs Student Team was one of the larger forces behind the technological revolution of the school of IDEAS. The summer of 2006 the NETS took on the job of setting up more than 5 computer labs, and 266 new laptops while still maintaining the other 400+ computers.

The students of the NETS class learn from their teacher and lead technicians. Students can use this as a future long career.
The Nets support all of the computers, printers, AV equipment and the NEHS computer network.

If you're interested in joining the team, contact Brian Hartman at 687-3261.
