NEMCO: Part of America's Future Workforce
NEMCO is a school-based, student enterprise at North Eugene High School. We work with local supporting companies to manufacture
• metal products
• wood products
This includes completing bids from blue prints, planning a process, programming, purchasing materials, assigning work orders, mass producing with fixtures, delivering, billing and so on.

We also manufacture, and market our own products as well. We are part of the future work force in American manufacturing and we are learning how to get started with our careers right here in high school. Thank you for visiting our website!

Real-Life Work Experience, College Credit, and CAM Opportunities
NEMCO encompasses two experiences. We make and market our own products and we work closely with supporting companies and make parts for them. Students gain real life experience in NEMCO.

Students can also earn scholarship money for post-high school education or for tools if they go to work.

Also as part of the Industry and Engineering CAM (Certif. of Adv. Mastery) program at North many opportunities exist for students to earn credit with Lane Community College and Oregon Institute of Technology Engineering Dept. Some students have earned as much as twenty one credits with Lane and seventeen with OIT. This is done in conjunction with a paid apprenticeship in the senior year with participating companies.

How Products are Developed
NEMCO began in 1994 after many local companies spent two years planning the program. At that time it was held after school three evenings per week. Students made parts for a local company and began developing their first product which is the NEMCO Post Puller.
Over the years students have continued to develop new NEMCO products.
• Each product is first designed by a team of students
• Then a prototype is made
• Revisions are considered and completed
• Lead students then develop the manufacturing process
• All students then have the opportunity to participate in the mass production process

How to Buy Products
We have always sold our products through the Lane County Home shows twice a year. Berg productions has donated the booths to the program. This has been a great way for the students to get exposure and learn to develop their company. If you are interested in purchasing a product of ours or contracting for services, send us an e-mail kuehling@4j.lane.edu.

Community Partners
Here are some of the local businesses and colleges that help make NEMCO possible through apprenticeships, mentorships, instruction, advising, financial support, materials and equipment donations, and advanced credit:
