COMMUNITY SERVICE : Office Support & Community Outreach

Posted 09/11. Committed Partners for Youth, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lane County is a non-profit mentoring agency serving youth-in-need in the Eugene/Springfield community. We serve youth (ages 6 to 17) through our partnerships with Eugene/Springfield elementary schools, middle schools, social services agencies and the juvenile court system. Youth are matched with caring adult volunteers who are trained to focus on positive reinforcement, trust-building, and the achievement of goals, by engaging youth in one-on-one outings and group adventures in the community. We have an on-going need for basic office support and community outreach work that we could really use help with. Some examples of this type of work are listed below.

• Photocopying application materials and assembling them into packets
• Filing
• Posting flyers at designated locations around the community (on foot or bike)
• Other general office support such as answering phones and data entry
• Helping out with preparations for our annual fundraising breakfast event to be held on October 21, 2009
• Helping out with our annual Truffle Shuffle walk & run race at Alton Baker Park - scheduled for February 7, 2010

Hours are very flexible from week-to-week depending upon both the student's schedule and availability and how much help we need during any given week. Generally, though, we probably have enough work to keep someone busy at least 2-3 hours a week, either by the term or for the whole school year. Please contact Patti Hansen, Volunteer Coordinator at 344-0833 x105 or phansen@committedpartners.org for more information! www.committedpartners.org
