Computer Labs and Networks

North Eugene High School has 6 computer labs, 19 mobile computer carts, and approximately 900 computers. Half of these are PCs running Windows XP. The rest are Macs running Mac OS X. Although many of the computers use ethernet cables to connect to the network, there are currently also 28 wireless access points throughout the school.

No matter where students are in the building and no matter which computer they are using, students can access their work from a secure 4J server. North Eugene staff also have access to student passwords so they can help students with their work.

To work from home

We recommend purchasing a USB flash drive (sometimes called a jumpdrive, pen-drive, or thumbdrive). This device will work on any modern computer and most older computers with USB support. They can be purchased at the NEHS finance office or any computer or office supply store. Students can also remotely connect to 4J's network and access files the same way they would at school using VPN technology, as explained here. http://www1.nehs.lane.edu/nets/vpn.html

Want to feel more comfortable using your computer? Become part of the NETS Team.

North Eugene students work to support all of our school’s technology resources, including labs, teacher work stations, and servers. Students receive training in hardware and software support for Macintosh, Windows, and Linux as well as local and wide area computer networking. In addition, students learn how best to communicate with and support computer users, prioritize work requests, and work as a team.

The students of the NETS class learn from their teacher and lead technicians. Students can use this as a future long career.
The Nets support all of the computers, printers, AV equipment and the NEHS computer network.

If you're interested in joining the team, contact Brian Hartman at 790-4500.
