Back to School September 8 & 9

Hello NEHS Families! ❤️💛
The countdown is ON! As we head into the final days of August, we’re getting everything ready to welcome our Highlanders back for the 2026–27 school year.

This newsletter is your Back-to-School headquarters — we’ve packed in as much as we can to help you get ready from home: calendars, bell schedules, important dates, online forms, back-to-school information, and more.

Take a few minutes to scroll through, click the links, and knock out anything you can ahead of time. We’ll keep adding updates as we get closer to the first day.

We’re almost there, Highlanders. See you soon! ❤️💛

NEHS Highlander Student News

👋 Say HELLO to Highlander Hello Day!

Freshmen, your first day at North Eugene is Tuesday, September 8, and we have a special day planned to help you get settled before the whole school gets rolling.

❤️💛 Highlander Hello Day will include:
💻 Technology checkout
🚌 Bus pass help + new passes
🏫 Lightning rounds of your classes
👋 Time to learn your way around North

Think of it as your chance to figure out where you're going, what you need, and how things work before diving into the school year.
We'll be breaking down Highlander Hello Day over the next few weeks so you know exactly what to expect.

10th-12th Grade First Day of School is WEDS 9/9

Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors will start school on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 - This is an early release schedule. Check our bell schedule page for all of those schedules.

Short School Supply List

We don’t usually ask for school supplies, but if you wanted to get some standard and basic things, they would be:

Paper
Pens
Pencils
Erasers
Planner
Lined Paper
Backpack
Binder

📸 SAY CHEESE, HIGHLANDERS! ❤️💛

Picture Day is coming to North Eugene!

📅 Picture Day: Tuesday, September 15
📍 During the school day
🔄 Makeup + Retake Day: Thursday, October 15

We’re working with Portrait Masters again this year!

Families can order school photo packages online here:

Order early! Orders received before the first Picture Day photos are processed will be shipped to NEHS for free.

Later orders may be delivered with the October retake photos or may require shipping directly to your home.

Students — come as you are, bring your best smile (or your best “school picture smile” 😬), and we’ll see you September 15! 📸

💻 Knock Out Your Back-to-School To-Do List with SchoolPay!

There are a few things families can take care of online before school starts:

❤️💛 Support NEHS: There is no ASB fee this year, so we are encouraging families who are able to make a $60 donation — or truly ANY amount! These donations help us continue supporting student activities and experiences throughout the year.

🏃 Sports Fees: Athletic participation fees can be paid online.

🚗 Parking Permits: Student drivers can also purchase their parking permit through SchoolPay.

One website. A few things checked off the list before September. ✔️

Thank you for supporting our Highlanders! ❤️💛

Buy Your Yearbook at Jostens.com

📚 2026–27 Yearbooks: Yes, we know...we're still waiting for last year's. 🤦‍♀️ BUT next year's are already on sale! We are insisting on a Spring release this year. Yearbooks are $60 through September 11 and increase to $65 after 9/11.

Changes to Nutrition Services

School meals are served in the cafeteria. Students are expected to clean up after themselves, recycle & compost when appropriate, and leave their eating area in a clean and orderly condition.

Breakfast and Lunch
All North Eugene High School students are eligible to receive one free breakfast and one free lunch each school day. No meal application is required.

Breakfast is available before school and during the mid-morning break.

Students who choose to purchase additional meals, second entrees, or à la carte items will be charged according to the current Nutrition Services price list. Charges for these items are applied to the student's meal account.

Benefits Eligibility Statement: Because all students receive free school meals through the district's meal program, meal participation no longer determines eligibility for reduced school fees or other community benefits. Families who need documentation of income eligibility for fee reductions, scholarships, or other community programs should complete the district's Income-Based Eligibility Form. Additional information is available in the Student Fee Reduction Policy

Student Technology

New students and 9th graders will check out their school-issued computers during their first day of school, September 8, 2026.

9th graders who still have a student device from a 4J middle school can return their device to North Eugene.
Students are responsible for taking care of their student technology. Please read our Technology Appropriate Use Guidelines.
Before the First Day of School

Request a Locker Partner

Please request a locker using this form so that we can assign you a partner. Freshmen and Sophomores will automatically receive a locker, but they must share. (Let us know who you want to share with.)

Juniors and Senior Upperclassmen will be eligible to have their own locker, but they must request it.

🚌 WAIT! Don't throw away your bus pass!

If you already have an LTD student bus pass, hang onto it. Your current pass should continue working through October. Bus Passes will be automatically renewed every year.

👉 Don't have one? Need a new one? We'll be issuing new bus passes that first week too. 🙌

❤️💛 If you have one? Keep the pass. Bring it to school with issues, We'll take it from there.
