Weekly Thistle Thread WEEK 2

What a way to end our first week! Friday night’s home football game was such a great community builder. I know the final score wasn’t the result our coaches or players wanted, but there was SO much to celebrate. We had what we believe was a record number of students in the stands, everyone showed up for the Neon theme, and our staff turnout was fantastic. I even got seriously silly-stringed! 😂 It was clear that people were there to have fun, support our students, and be part of something together.

The relationships you are all building and nurturing with our students are palpable, and they are making a real impact on our school and the larger North community. That sense of connection is exactly what we want to continue building.

Week 1 was busy, and I’m sure Week 2 will prove to be just as full! We have Picture Day, the Highlander Hello Assembly, classroom visits, and—hopefully—some pictures of Baby Humble making her debut soon! And, BJ will be in the house!

Let’s keep showing up, connecting with our students, supporting one another, and making North a place where people want to be.

Team Work Makes the Dream Work!

I want to take a moment to recognize our incredible Counseling, Transition, Mental Health, and Registrar team. The first days of school are always a whirlwind, but this year you have been working tirelessly to support students, families, and one another while we continue to shift and strengthen our systems.

You have enrolled new students, corrected schedules, supported students experiencing anxiety and uncertainty, navigated mountains of paperwork, welcomed exchange students, responded to upset or worried parents, introduced and supported new team members, and somehow continued to problem-solve every new challenge that comes through the door.

And you have done it with care, patience, flexibility, and an incredible willingness to figure things out.

The amount of problem-solving happening behind the scenes is next level, and so much of it happens quietly. But I see it, and I want you to know how much it matters. Every schedule you fix, student you reassure, family you help, and barrier you remove makes a difference in a student's experience at North. Thank you for showing up for our students and families, for supporting each other, and for being willing to tackle the hard and complicated stuff together.
